Fall Craft Ideas for Toddlers

I am trying to be more intentional about finding seasonal crafts to do with the kids, so I have compiled a list of fall themed crafts that I plan to do with them this year. Visit each of the links below to get more details on each craft.

  • Apple printing – Experiment with different cuttings of apples to allow your kids to try out different shapes and sizes.
  • Handprint turkey – Your kids will love having their hands painted five different colors for this creative craft!
  • Sponge painted Thanksgiving turkey craft – This is a cute way to make a Turkey themed craft that the kids will love!
  • Handprint leaves – My kids love any paint related crafts, so I’m thinking this one will be a hit! Paint your child’s hand red, orange or yellow and press firmly onto a piece of white paper. Allow to dry and then draw on stem lines.
  • Fall leaf wreath – The kids will love this fun craft! Cut a circle out of the center of a paper plate. Glue pieces of orange, red, and yellow construction paper along with real leaves or paper cut outs of leaves onto your paper plate wreath.
  • Thankfulness hands tree – Use brown construction paper as the trunk, and trace handprints on green, orange, yellow, and red construction paper. Cut those out and use them as leaves. On each “leaf” write something you or your kids are thankful for.
  • Leaf rubbings – A fun craft with minimal supplies–paper, crayons and just some leaves from the backyard.
  • Pumpkin carving – If you’re worried about this not being safe to do with your kids, the last point in this link gives the idea of letting your kids use an apple corer (or even maybe a melon baller) instead of a knife.
  • Decorate a pumpkin – If your kids are too young to enjoy carving a pumpkin, break out the paint and ribbon. Get creative and let your kids decorate their pumpkin to their hearts’ content.
  • Melted Pumpkin – This spin on decorating a pumpkin involves crayon pieces melted over the sides of a pumpkin.
  • Fingerprint Fall Tree – I’m pretty sure all kids love finger painting so this craft will be a hit.
  • Toilet Paper Roll Turkey Craft – Assuming you have already started setting aside toilet paper rolls for your kids for crafts, you should have everything you need on hand for this fun craft!
  • Jack O’ Lantern Potato stamping – Cut a potato in half and carve out a jack o’ lantern face with your knife. Let your kids dip it in orange paint and press firmly onto a piece of paper. Add some fun stems with a bit of green paint!
  • Fall Hand Print Wreath – Trace your kids’ handprints on red, orange, green, and brown construction paper. Cut them out and glue them on a cutout paper plate to form a beautiful wreath!
