Ziti Recipe

I love lasagna but sometimes it can be tricky for kids to eat. Ziti is great because it has a lot of the same flavor but it’s easier for the kids to eat these noodles. This is our favorite way to make it!

Ingredients:

  • 1 (16 ounce) package of ziti pasta
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 (24 ounce) jars marinara sauce/spaghetti sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 12 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pound shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions:

Cook noodles. Cook and drain sausage. Mix ricotta with 1 teaspoon Italians seasoning and the salt and pepper. Mix sauce with 1 teaspoon basil. Spread bottom of 13×9 pan with sauce. Layer 1/2 of the ziti noodles, 1/2 of the sausage, 1/2 of the ricotta mixture, 1/2 of the mozzarella, 1/2 of the sauce. Repeat layers. Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of basil and 1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning on top. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 40-45 minutes.
